The Sussex Fashion Awards 2012 announcements
14 businesses celebrated their new status across Sussex last year when they won awards in the first Sussex Fashion Awards 2011.
This years awards have been handpicked with care, reflecting the very essence of the fashion industry currently in Sussex, its offerings, its design, manufacturing, retailing, e’tailing, and export capacity.
The Awards include nominations from all product sectors including women’s wear, accessories, resort wear, dancewear, menswear, footwear, formalwear, and more …
There’s a new and specifically introduced Childrens Year Award 2012 and Sportswear Award 2012 to reflect this very special Olympic Year and The London Games 2012 whilst repositioned our Best Place to Shop Award 2012 and Ambassador Award 2012.
With a strong focus on British design and manufacturing, being featured throughout the UK, this year, co-inciding with The London Games 2012 opportunities, its even better if products or services are designed and Made in Great Britain.
With special thanks to Jake Leith, Trustee, who has particularly given great care in selecting and redefining the 2012 Awards.

Sussex Fashion Emerging Talent Award 2012
We’re looking for a special regional designer talent in Sussex, someone who will emerge as an influential tour de force of British Fashion 2012 – awe inspiring talent!
Can you think of a new designer who makes a truly memorable impression with their designs? This is the Award that can change a Sussex designer’s life – whether they are still a student here or been in the business for sometime – all fashion designers are eligible including ranges from menswear, childrens wear, fashion accessories, work wear, sports wear, dancewear, resort wear, footwear, and of course, women’s wear. This super- special nominee who wins the Award will gain the publicity they need, with our local and regional press in attendance to promote their name across the UK and internationally.
Sussex Fashion Eco-Vintage Award 2012
We believe the sustainability conscious Sussex fashion designer, fashion team, shop, etailer, photographer, who has excelled above all others this year in helping our world reduce its carbon footprint and help promote the ”e” word 2012 must apply for this award. This could be evidenced for example through their ethical business model and practice, or fabric choices and supply chains – it can even be swishing companies, charities, vintage shops, or fair trade …
Brighton & Hove, is one of the leading eco cities in the UK. Brighton & Hove has been helping to progress the mind-sets of those who are environmentally conscious and has brought awareness of sustainability to the forefront of the fashion agenda in Sussex. Lets now move fashion to the front of the eco agenda too and find our eco designer 2012 – do you know a fashion designer celebrating fashion with green credentials reflected in every aspect of ther their designs – using recycled fabrics – using sustainable fabrics – or a design team producing eco clothing or etailer making the difference to their carbon footprint?
Sussex Fashion Outstanding Achievement Award 2012
We want to give this award to the person or team that you feel has made the most outstanding achievement during 2012.
This award is for the person or team that has made a difference to fashion this year in Sussex – putting fashion on the map for Sussex. Was it an innovative approach to disability via inclusive design? Was it the fashion show held by the students in Brighton raising money for charity? Was it a school event that not only raised money for good causes but also helped to recycle clothing? Whatever makes these fashion individuals or groups stand out from the others, nominate them.
Sussex Fashion Designer of the Year Award 2012
This prestigious and most coveted prize is the one to win, designer of the year. This Award sets the winner apart from the rest, in the high street , on the catwalk, and designer houses. Publicity follows naturally with the award and can offer huge opportunities with the aspiration for wider appeal.

Sussex Fashion Childrenswear Award 2012
This award is for the person or team, shop, E’tailer,who demonstrate a fresh imaginative playful approach to childrenswear. This could be demonstrated design through the use of natural sustainable fibres and fabrics, but above all exciting, dynamic and creative design or through retail stores or their visual merchandise instore. We’re simply looking for the best in the childrenswear sector.
Sussex Fashion Sportswear Award 2012
In this the year of the Olympics & Paralympics - this new award seeks to recognise active sportswear which makes a difference through a combination of good design and fabric technology. Providing a range of sportswear suitable for any number of disciplines and in doing so promotes and encourages sport as part of a healthy lifestyle to customers, designers and including sports retailers.

My Sussex Fashion Award has given me extra recognition to help me promote a number of projects and show the positive side of the industry.
Igor winner The Best Male Sussex Fashion Ambassador Award 2011
Igor – won The Best Male Sussex Fashion Ambassador Award 2011 – and has continued providing us with great world fashion and beauty pages at “Whats Happening Magazine” and also working at New York Fashion week and London. Igor is a judge at the end of this month at Brighton’s Hot Model competition and has never looked back since winning his award 2011.

What happens next?
A shorlist of nominees will be announced begining of July and selected finalists may be asked to submit more information about their company to the judges.
When are the finals held?
Winners announcements will be made 6 September 2012. Early evening insutry networking and wards night from 6pm. Venue to be announced.
Awards can change peoples’ life and business prospective and influence decisions about their firm or themselves to a whole range of consumers and industry specialists.
